How to Use PowerPoint Speak to Read Text Aloud
Microsoft PowerPoint has a built-in text-to-speech feature called Speak, which lets you read text out loud. Here's how to use it.
With PowerPoint presentations, it's usually you, or an audio or video clip, doing all the talking. But what if you want to give your voice a much-needed break without interrupting the presentation?
Microsoft PowerPoint has a built-in but hidden Speak feature that allows it to read out the text of your presentation slides, similar to the Read Aloud feature in its cousins—Word and Outlook.
In this article, you'll learn how to set up and use the Speak feature in Microsoft PowerPoint to read out your slides and power up your presentations, plus how to manage it.
How to Enable Speak in Microsoft PowerPoint
The Speak feature has been available in PowerPoint since PowerPoint 2010, but not many are aware of this because it's neither on the Ribbon area nor on the Quick Access Toolbar by default.
With a little tweaking, however, you can enable Speak on the Ribbon and QAT, and get PowerPoint talking just like your Google Assistant . Here's how:
- Open the PowerPoint desktop application.
- Drag the scroll bar, scroll all the way down and click on Speak . The commands are arranged alphabetically, so you can jump to “S.”
- Speak will be enabled for all documents in PowerPoint by default.
- Return to your Quick Access Toolbar , and you should see the Speak button, but it may be inactive.

How to Use Speak to Read Microsoft PowerPoint Documents Aloud
Once Speak is added to your Quick Access Toolbar or Ribbon, you can start listening to your PowerPoint presentations. Here's how:
- Launch the PowerPoint desktop application and open any existing document.
- Click on Speak and it will start speaking or reading out the selected text.
You'll notice that unlike the Read Aloud feature, Speak functions basically as a play/stop button on the Quick Access Toolbar. It can also be playing in the background while you do other tasks.

How to Manage Speak in Microsoft PowerPoint
If you want to manage how Speak works, you'll have to go through the Windows menu. Here's how:
- Press the Windows key on your PC and click on Control Panel .
- Click on the Voice selection dropdown to select a different voice. Your options will depend on your version of Windows.
- Voice Speed is set to Normal by default. You can adjust this by dragging the slider left or right between “Slow” and “Fast.”
- Click OK when done.

Power Up Your PowerPoint Presentations With Speak
Whether you're feeling tired and exhausted or you have a speech impairment, you can power up your PowerPoint presentations with Speak and let it do the talking on your behalf. It's also available in Word, Outlook, and OneNote.
Speak is clearly not as robust or as accessible as Read Aloud, perhaps due to the fact that PowerPoint already has several other built-in audio/visual tools. However, it is good enough to do the basic tasks of helping you make an audio presentation or read another's presentation aloud.

How to Embed a Video in PowerPoint
3-minute read
- 13th February 2024
Including a video in your PowerPoint presentation can make it more exciting and engaging. And it’s much easier than you might think. Read on for our step-by-step guide.
Before You Start, Find the Video
Finding your video first may sound like an obvious thing to do, but its location will determine how you go about embedding it in your PowerPoint presentation. You can use video from:
- A file saved on your computer
- An online source, such as YouTube , in which case you’ll need to copy its URL
Once you’ve found the video you want to use, follow the steps below to embed it in your PowerPoint.
How to Embed a Video From Your Computer
1. select the slide.
In your PowerPoint presentation, select the slide where you want to insert your video.
2. Click to Insert Media
For a video stored on your computer, you have two options:
- Click on the Insert Video icon in the center of the screen (it looks like a couple of frames of film).
3. Select the Video File
Since you found the location of your video file before you started, it should be a quick job to select it in the pop-up box that appears. Then click Insert to embed the video in your slide.
How to Embed an Online Video
As before, start by choosing the slide where you want to insert your video.
With an online video, you will need to use the options in the ribbon. On the Insert tab, click on the arrow beside the Video icon and select Online Film .

3. Enter the URL
Since you found and copied the URL for your video before you started, you can now paste that into the box that appears. Then click Insert to embed the video in your slide.
Finishing Up
Congratulations! You have now successfully embedded your chosen video. But you can do more to polish your presentation.
Whatever the source of your video, you can add text and play around with how the video appears on screen. To do this, use the options in the Video Format tab.
You can also choose a playback option to suit your presentation using the options available under the Playback tab.
And, of course, don’t forget to save your presentation: just click File , then either Save or Save As, and choose a location and file name.
Whether it’s stored on your computer or accessed online, adding a video to PowerPoint is a simple way to add an extra dimension to your presentation.
Of course, you’ll also need to make sure that the other elements of your presentation are on point – you don’t want your hard work derailed by spelling and grammar issues. We can help with that! Our team of expert editors and proofreaders are available 24/7 to help you to polish your PowerPoint presentation . You can try out our services for free here .

Reading Strategies Reading in the Upper Grades
Teaching Strategies Comprehension • Learning Walls Generate a list of essential words, concepts, formulas, etc. and begin a word wall. Create charts and place them in a prominent place. Use color and patters to enhance learners. Students connect new info with the learning walls.
Teaching Strategies Comprehension • Learning Walls Location: Where the kids can see it Content: Pictures, phrases, 4x6 index cards, color code words that share same concept
Did you know black text on yellow paper stimulates learning? Teaching Strategies Comprehension • Learning Word Walls Critical Elements: • Include essential words • Add no more than 5 words per week • Put words where everyone can see them • Practice words daily (chanting, writing, and moving), make sure words are spelled correctly. (Cunningham, 1990)
Each clue narrows the possible answer. Word Walls • Guess the Word – Students number papers 1-5. Give 5 clues focusing on one word. • 1st clue: It is a word on the Word Wall. • After each clue have students guess the word from the word wall. • By the 5th clue students should be able to guess the word.
Guess the Word Game – Number our paper 1-5. • It is a word from the Word Wall. • It has ________ syllables. • It’s used only when ______ • It’s part of ____________ • It completes this sentence: _______________
Download a WORDO Template from Literacy Off Ramp. Make it harder…call out the definition, not the word. WORDO (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006) • This game is based on the BINGO game. Give students a Wordo Card filled with Word Wall words (each card should be different). • Call out a word and have students cover it with a scrap of paper or cut paper squares. • The first one to cover a row across, down, or diagonally, shouts WORDO.
Sorts (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006) • Decide on the type of sort. • Write 10-15 words, formulas, etc. on index cards. • Students sort the words in different piles depending on the directions you give them. Sort by definition Sort by alike/different Sort alphabetically Sort sequentially
Sorts • Open Sort – Teacher provides only the word, students determine the sort category. • Closed Sort – Teacher provides the categories for the sort. • Speed Sort – A timed sort • Blind Sort – The teacher calls out the words, the student point to the correct category listed on the overhead or a worksheet. • Writing Sort – Students have categories on a worksheet and writes words in proper categories as the teacher reads the words out.
Think Alouds (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006) • Teacher reads text orally, stops and then “thinks aloud” to model how learners should make connections that develop better comprehension.
Think Aloud Strategies • Keep reading to see if author explains what you don’t understand. • Reread to see if you missed something. • Read back to the part you don’t understand or read forward and skip confusing words.
Think Aloud Strategies • Reflect on what you’ve read and look for an explanation based on your prior knowledge. • Look for answers beyond the text.
KWL, KWHL, KWWL Charts (Ogle, 1986) • K = KNOW What do I already know about his topic? • W = WILL or WANT What do I want to learn about this topic? What will I learn about this topic? • L = LEARNED What have I learned about this topic after reading?
KWL, KWHL, KWWL Charts (Ogle, 1986) Variations: • H = HOW How do I find the information? • W = WHERE Where do I find the information? KWL, KWHL, KWWLCharts can be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
Anticipation Guide Strategy Tierney, Readence, and Dishner Before, During, and After reading strategy • Preparation – The teacher develops 3-5 statements that are related to the topic. • Create an anticipation guide to copy and give to students An Anticipation Guide Templatecan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
Anticipation Guide Strategy Tierney, Readence, and Dishner Pre-Reading Discussion • Distribute guides and students mark the Before Reading Agree/Disagree choices. As students read, they take notes, reading with a purpose. An Anticipation Guide Template can be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
Anticipation Guide Strategy Tierney, Readence, and Dishner Post-Reading Discussion • Review original choices to see if thinking has changed: • Did we find answers to our questions? • What questions do we still have? • What information did we learn that we did not anticipate before we read? • What have we learned by reading this selection? • What was the most interesting, unusual, or surprising information you learned? An Anticipation Guide Template can be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
PIC Strategy(Purpose, ImportantIdeas,Connections) (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006) Students focus on the most important information and make predictions and develop questions before reading. P= What is my Purpose for reading? I = How can I tell what are the Important Ideas in the text? C = What do I already know that I use to make a Connection? A PIC Formcan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
3-2-1 StrategySummarizing (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006) 3 key ideas I found out from reading 2 things that were especially interesting or especially hard to understand 1 question I still have A 3-2-1 Formcan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
3-2-1 Variation (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006) 3 differences between ______ and _______. 2 similarities between them 1 question I still have A 3-2-1 Formcan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
RAFT (Vandervanter and Adler, 1982) Post-Reading • R=Role • A=Audience • F=Format • T=Topic
RAFT (Vandervanter and Adler, 1982) • Role of the writer • Who is the writer? • Audience • To whom are you writing? • Format • Are you writing to persuade, entertain, inform, describe? • Topic • What is your topic? A RAFT Worksheetcan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
Column Notes (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006, based on Cornell Note Taking System) • Change column headings to fit objectives/material • Best for cause/effect or compare/contrast skills • 2-Columns – students fold paper down middle for note taking.
2 Column Notes (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006, based on Cornell Note Taking System) 2 Column Notes can be made with: • Main idea – headings – details – explanations • Cause – effect • Vocabulary – definitions • Questions – answers • Facts – opinions • Predications – outcomes 2-Column Notescan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
3 Column Notes (Dr. Sharon H. Faber, 2006, based on Cornell Note Taking System) 3 Column Notes can be made with: • Vocabulary – definition- example • Topic – explanation – supporting details • Process – procedure – results • Questions – notes – class discussion • Cause – effect - explanation 3 Column Notescan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
QAR Question-Answer-Relationship(Raphael, 1982, 1986) A process of finding and supporting answers to questions. 4 Types: • Right There – the answer is in a single sentence in the text. • Think and Search – The answer is in the text, but in more than one sentence. RIGHT THERE!
QAR Question-Answer-Relationship(Raphael, 1982, 1986) 4 Types: • Author and You – The answer is not in the text. Reader will use the text and prior knowledge to answer the question. • On My Own – The answer is not in the text, but is based solely on the readers prior knowledge. QAR Formcan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp.
Visual Reading Guides (Stein, 1978) Used to preview the text by noting visuals such as maps, charts, graphs pictures, cartoons, etc. that relate to the content. • How is the visual related to the text? • Why did the author include the visual? • What does the visual show me? • How can I use the information from the visual to help me understand the text? • Why is the information from the visual important? Visual Reading Guidecan be downloaded from Literacy Off Ramp. Rider & Aide Bookmarks
Mapping (Johnson and Pearson, 1978) • Vocabulary Web (Johnson and Perason, 1978) is a mapping strategy that builds on students' prior knowledge to lead them toward relationships with new words or terms. Vocabulary Web worksheet • DISSECT(a word analysis graphic)
Reciprocal Teaching (Palincsar et al., 1984, 1986) Combines 4 comprehension strategies: • Summarizing • Questioning • Clarifying • Predicting Students are arranged in groups of 4 and given a Reciprocal Teaching worksheet. Students read a section of text and assume a role, either summarizer, questioner, clarifier, or predictor.
Reciprocal Teaching (Palincsar et al., 1984, 1986) Reciprocal Teaching worksheet Students take notes on the worksheet and stop at a given point. • The summarizer will then give the major points • The questioner will ask questions about unclear sections • The clarifier will discuss the confusing parts • The predictor will guess what will happen next.
80-15-5 Rule • A new strategy must be taught, modeled, and supervised in order for students to incorporate the strategy.
80-15-5 Rule: Any one technique works will with 80% of students Okay with 15% of students And does not work at all with 5% of students.

Black History Month 2024: African Americans and the Arts
The national theme for Black History Month 2024 is “ African Americans and the Arts .”
Black History Month 2024 is a time to recognize and highlight the achievements of Black artists and creators, and the role they played in U.S. history and in shaping our country today.
To commemorate this year’s theme, we’ve gathered powerful quotes about learning, culture and equality from five historic Black American authors, teachers and artists who made a significant impact in the Arts, education ― and the nation.
Making history
“Real education means to inspire people to live more abundantly, to learn to begin with life as they find it and make it better.” – Carter G. Woodson, Author, Journalist, Historian and Educator, 1875-1950
Known as the “Father of Black History,” Carter G. Woodson was primarily self-taught in most subjects. In 1912, he became the second Black person to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard.
He is the author of more than 30 books, including “T he Mis-Education of the Negro. ”
Carter G. Woodson dedicated his life to teaching Black History and incorporating the subject of Black History in schools. He co-founded what is now the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Inc. (ASALH) . In February 1926, Woodson launched the first Negro History Week , which has since been expanded into Black History Month.
Providing a platform
“I have created nothing really beautiful, really lasting, but if I can inspire one of these youngsters to develop the talent.” – Augusta Savage, Sculptor, 1892-1962
An acclaimed and influential sculptor of the Harlem Renaissance, Augusta Savage was a teacher and an activist who fought for African American rights in the Arts. She was one out of only four women, and the only Black woman, commissioned for the 1939 New York World’s Fair. She exhibited one of her most famous works, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which she named after the hymn by James Weldon Johnson, sometimes referred to as the Black National Anthem. Her sculpture is also known as “ The Harp, ” renamed by the fair’s organizers.
Raising a voice
“My mother said to me ‘My child listen, whatever you do in this world no matter how good it is you will never be able to please everybody. But what one should strive for is to do the very best humanly possible.’” – Marian Anderson, American Contralto, 1897-1993
Marian Anderson broke barriers in the opera world. In 1939, she performed at the Lincoln Memorial in front of a crowd of 75,000 after the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) denied her access to the DAR Constitution Hall because of her race. And in 1955, Marian Anderson became the first African American to perform at the Metropolitan Opera. She sang the leading role as Ulrica in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera.
Influencing the world
“The artist’s role is to challenge convention, to push boundaries, and to open new doors of perception.” – Henry Ossawa Tanner, Painter, 1859-1937
Henry Ossawa Tanner is known to be the first Black artist to gain world-wide fame and acclaim. In 1877, he enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts , where he was the only Black student. In 1891, Tanner moved to Paris to escape the racism he was confronted with in America. Here, he painted two of his most recognized works, “ The Banjo Lesson” and “ The Thankful Poor of 1894. ”
In 1923, Henry O. Tanner was awarded the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the French government, France’s highest honor.
Rising up
“Wisdom is higher than a fool can reach.” – Phillis Wheatley, Poet, 1753-1784
At about seven years old, Phillis Wheatley was kidnapped from her home in West Africa and sold into slavery in Boston. She started writing poetry around the age of 12 and published her first poem, “ Messrs. Hussey and Coffin ,” in Rhode Island’s Newport Mercury newspaper in 1767.
While her poetry spread in popularity ― so did the skepticism. Some did not believe an enslaved woman could have authored the poems. She defended her work to a panel of town leaders and became the first African American woman to publish a book of poetry. The panel’s attestation was included in the preface of her book.
Phillis Wheatley corresponded with many artists, writers and activists, including a well-known 1 774 letter to Reverand Samson Occom about freedom and equality.
Honoring Black History Month 2024
Art plays a powerful role in helping us learn and evolve. Not only does it introduce us to a world of diverse experiences, but it helps us form stronger connections. These are just a few of the many Black creators who shaped U.S. history ― whose expressions opened many doors and minds.
Black History Month is observed each year in February. To continue your learning, go on a journey with Dr. Jewrell Rivers, as he guides you through Black History in higher education. Read his article, “A Brief History: Black Americans in Higher Education.”

Houthis fired on commercial vessel carrying corn to Iran, US says
From CNN staff
A Greek-owned commercial vessel targeted by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels in the Red Sea on Monday was carrying corn from Brazil to Iran, according to US Central Command and the State Department.
This appears to be the first time the Houthis have targeted a ship destined for Iran, which provides backing for the rebel group that controls parts of Yemen.
The Houthis had previously claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a US vessel.
“In this case, it seems Iran’s destabilizing activities have imperiled the food security of the Iranian people,” a State Department spokesperson said.
The vessel was not subject to US sanctions because it was carrying corn, which falls under an exemption that covers food supplies, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the vessel is owned by Star Bulk Carriers, “a Greek-based global shipping company with partial U.S. owners.”
The ship suffered minor damage and no injuries to its crew, according to the US Central Command.
The vessel, named the "Star Iris," was sailing from the Brazilian port of Vila Do Conde to Iran’s Bandar Imam Khomeini port in the Persian Gulf, according to marine tracking company Kpler.
“The Star Iris, like every Iran-bound bulker, had not diverted away from the Red Sea, perhaps unafraid of attacks from Iran-backed Houthis who could be considered 'friendly' given the vessel's destination,” said Ishan Bhanu, Lead Agricultural Commodities Analyst at Kpler.
"At a projected 4.5 million tonnes for this year, flows from Brazil make for the majority of Iran's corn imports," he said.
The Houthis have been targeting vessels delivering for Israel in the Red Sea in response to what they call Israel's "aggression" against Gaza.
Despite repeated strikes against Houthi weapons, the Iran-backed rebel group has vowed to continue targeting vessels with links to Israel, the US and the UK.

Top US official meets virtually with American hostage families frustrated about "pace of negotiations"
From CNN's Arlette Saenz
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan virtually met Monday with the families of the six Americans believed to be held hostage in Gaza, sources familiar with the meeting said.
The conversation came a day ahead of CIA Director Bill Burns's expected travel to Egypt for further hostage release talks, two sources familiar with the plans told CNN.
In a statement, the families said they “expressed our gratitude for the Administration’s continued efforts to bring our loved ones home but made clear our frustration with the pace of negotiations.”
“With more than 20 percent of the hostages reported murdered, there is no time to waste,“ the families said. “Another week cannot go by without a deal. We need an agreement now to bring the hostages home.”
The hostage families participating in the call included Jonathan Dekel-Chen and Gillian Kaye; Yael and Adi Alexander; Lee Siegel and Hanna Siegel; Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg; Ruby and Hagit Chen; and Ronen and Orna Neutra, a source said. Liz Hirsh Naftali, whose niece Abigail Edan was freed as part of the November hostage deal, also participated.
Several of the families met with Sullivan in person at the White House two weeks ago and with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken while he was in Israel last week.
Top US general casts doubt on idea Iran wants war with the United States
From CNN's Haley Britzky
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown Jr. cast doubt on Monday on the idea that Iran wants war with the United States, telling NBC’s Lestor Holt, “I don’t know that they do.”
“Having watched Iran operate, they will do things through their militia groups and others to put pressure, to achieve their objectives. At the same time, not looking for a broader conflict with the United States,” Brown said in an interview on the “Nightly News” on Monday.
Brown’s comments come after at least 170 attacks by Iran-backed groups on US and coalition forces in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan since October 17. Brown echoed comments from other US officials saying the priories are to protect US forces while deterring further aggression in the region and avoiding a full-scale conflict in the Middle East.
Desperate Gazans wonder what to do after Israeli strikes kill dozens in Rafah. Here's the latest
Palestinians in Rafah are frantically trying to figure out whether to stay or evacuate after deadly Israeli strikes rained down Monday night on the southern Gaza city, a displaced aid worker told CNN on Monday.
“It was one of the most terrible nights,” Jamal al Rozzi said. “Not because of the number of martyrs of the number of injuries, but also because everybody was just asking themselves what to do.”
Dozens of people, including children, were killed as the “extremely intense” airstrikes and shelling pounded multiple locations, according to local officials.
The Israeli military confirmed it conducted a “series of strikes” in the Shaboura area of Rafah and that two Israeli hostages were rescued in a “special operation.”
More than 1.3 million people — more than half of Gaza’s population — are seeking refuge in Rafah, with the majority of people displaced from other parts of the besieged enclave crammed into a sprawling tent city.
On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed the military to plan for the “evacuation of the population” ahead of an offensive against what he described as "Hamas’s last bastion.”
Here are the latest developments:
- Warnings over Rafah offensive: The UN's relief and human rights chiefs, Martin Griffiths and Volker Turk, called on Israel to abort its "terrifying" planned incursion into Rafah. They warned that such an operation would likely result in scores of civilian casualties . Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor said he was “deeply concerned by the reported bombardment and potential ground incursion by Israeli forces in Rafah,” and warned that his office is “actively investigating any crimes allegedly committed” in the war.
- US response to Rafah bombardment: The Biden administration is deeply concerned about the Israeli hostage rescue operation that may have also resulted in some 100 Palestinians being killed , according to a senior administration official. Meanwhile, the State Department said the US does not see the Israeli strikes as “the launch of a full-scale offensive."
- Death of 5-year-old Palestinian: The US called on the Israeli government to investigate the death of 5-year-old Hind Rajab . She was found dead this weekend after being trapped in a car for Gaza City with members of her family who were reportedly shot to death by Israeli forces weeks ago. Rescue workers dispatched to find her were also reportedly shot and killed.
- Biden and Abdullah differ on Gaza: US President Joe Biden discussed a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas which would include a six-week pause in fighting with Jordan's King Abdullah II at the White House on Monday. Abdullah, for his part, called for a “lasting ceasefire” that would bring the current fighting to an end.
King Abdullah's call for permanent ceasefire underscores divide with Biden over war in Gaza
From CNN's Kevin Liptak
Jordan’s King Abdullah II, the first Arab leader to visit the White House since the start of the war in Gaza in October, broke with his host President Joe Biden on key issues during a joint appearance Monday.
Abdullah made a call for a “lasting ceasefire” in Gaza that would bring the current fighting to an end and said it was essential the main United Nations agency responsible for Gaza continue to receive funding after the US and other nations withdrew support last month.
Biden has stopped short of calling for a permanent ceasefire, and his administration pulled funding for the agency over allegations some of its staff were involved with Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel. The open rifts between Biden and Abdullah underscored the delicate diplomatic balance the president is facing as the war in Gaza enters its fifth month.
Speaking from the White House Cross Hall, Abdullah said a ground operation in Rafah, which Israel has previewed in recent days, would amount to devastation.
Biden advocates for hostage deal and discusses war with Jordan’s King Abdullah
From CNN's Donald Judd
US President Joe Biden discussed a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas which would include a six-week pause in fighting with Jordan's King Abdullah II at the White House on Monday.
"The key elements of the deal are on the table. There are gaps that remain – but I've encouraged Israeli leaders to keep working to achieve the deal. The United States will do everything possible to make it happen," Biden said, adding that in the past month, he has participated in talks about a deal with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the leaders of Qatar and Egypt.
The US president said he’s been working “day and night,” along with Abdullah, to bring home hostages held by Hamas and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza. He also thanked the king for conducting an airdrop of medical supplies to the region.
Speaking about reports that Israel is considering a military incursion into Rafah, Biden said the country “should not proceed without a credible plan" to ensure the safety of people sheltering in the city.
Israeli military releases footage apparently showing the moment hostages were rescued in Rafah
From CNN's Amir Tal and Michael Rios
The Israeli military has released a pair of videos of what it says shows the moments two hostages were rescued from Rafah in an early morning raid Monday.
One video primarily shows aerial footage in black and white thermal imaging. It starts with a group of people walking through the street, with the voice of an unknown person saying, "The hostages are in our hands," according to the English translation on screen.
It then appears to show an exchange of gunfire during the rescue.
Moments later, a convoy of vehicles is seen moving along a road, with someone declaring, "The forces have started to move along the route. The forces are on their way. The forces are on their way."
The video ends with more aerial footage showing a helicopter taking off as one voice is heard saying, "They’re good and healthy," and another voice responds: "Good. Keep going. We’re accompanying you."
The second video was shot with the cameras of Shayetet 13 soldiers, and shows the troops meeting with the hostages for the first time inside a vehicle before boarding a helicopter to Israel, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The troops are seen chatting with both hostages, comforting them, and offering water and blankets.
One soldier asks, "How are you feeling?" "Shocked, shocked, all right," one of the hostages responds, according to the English translation on screen.
Graphic images show devastation in Rafah after Israeli airstrikes
From CNN's Kareem Khadder, Mostafa Salem, Jen Deaton and Max Saltman
Graphic images from Gaza illustrate the toll airstrikes are taking on the city of Rafah, now home to more than half of the enclave's population.
Israeli airstrikes killed at least 94 people overnight Monday, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The Israel Defense Forces said it launched a mission against Hamas to extract two hostages, which was successful.
Two of the videos, which CNN obtained from social media groups used by Palestinian journalists, show hospitals in southern Gaza. One video shows a young child hanging lifelessly from the side of a structure. Several men are trying to bring his body down.
A second image shows another boy, who appears to be a young teen, lying on a bed and clinging to a shroud-wrapped body. According to Gaza journalists, it's the body of his mother in the hospital mortuary. The woman's name is written on her shroud: Ghada Ahmad Yousef Abu al-Hanoud. Her name appears on a list of 74 victims identified and issued death certificates by the Abu Yousef Al-Najjar government hospital in Rafah.
In a third clip, a young girl wipes her eyes and cries but gathers herself to describe what she experienced, "I was going to the bathroom and the strikes were ongoing suddenly I found the fire in our house...(inaudible)...then I went to the bathroom and all the walls collapsed on me," the girl said.
Another video shows a woman holding a dead infant baby covered in a shroud. A young girl sits next to her with a pained expression. The woman says:
