35. Create A Brain Dump Page

july bullet journal brain dump

I find the process of brain dump quite interesting. Sometimes, your brain gets cluttered with a lot of thoughts and you may feel very restless and overwhelmed. You may have trouble focusing on the tasks at hand since your brain keeps returning to those other thoughts in your mind. In such cases, a brain dump can prove to be quite helpful.

The Brain Dump is a method where you allow all the cluttered thoughts in your head to be written down on paper, to get it out of your brain in some type of solid, tangible form.  You can use this brain dump to later convert it into a task list.

I found this adorable brain dump page by @ cazligraphy on Instagram. The cute popsicle doodles make this brain dumping process quite fun.

July Bullet Journal

July Bullet Journal Ideas: A Complete Guide You’ll Need

It can be stressful every month to keep pushing out ideas in order to make your bullet journal look absolutely amazing.

If you’re looking for a complete guide to setting up your July bullet journal, we’ve got you covered! Since it’s the middle of summer in the US, you’re actually thrown in with many ideas you can use.

Think about this for a second, with summer we’re talking delicious fruits like watermelon, tempting ice creams that make our mouths water at the thought of it cooling us down, that amazing swim at the beach, or even a picnic in the park, there’s a huge variety of things to include in your bullet journal for this month.

Are you excited yet? If not, you will be in a second or two!

Important Dates To Note

Before we get started, let’s take a keep look at a few memorable holidays and days to remember.

This can be incredibly useful if you want to create a theme for your journal (this is pretty common in bullet journaling and it makes it easier to keep track of the months and plan ahead!).

Fun and Unique Month Ideas ( Will make a cute spread )

  • National Blueberry Month
  • National Hot Dog Month
  • National Ice Cream Month
  • National Picnic Month
  • National Anti-Boredom Month

July Holidays

  • July 2 – World UFO Day
  • July 4 – Independence Day
  • July 10 – National Kitten Day
  • July 13  – Amazon Prime Day
  • July 15  – National Give Something Away Day
  • July 18  – Nelson Mandela International Day
  • July 20 – National Moon Day

How Can I Create A July Bullet Journal Spread?

Step 1: Theme

Before beginning a new month’s spread, pick a theme you’d like to follow. We will discuss this in just a minute but if you have any ideas of what you’d like your spread to look like, then you can easily work from there.

Step 2: Elements

The next thing you’ll want to do is decide on what you’ll be tracking or including in this spread. Whether that’s a monthly overview, a Sleep Tracker, a mid-year vision board, or even meal planning , write them down on a page and dedicate the space needed for all these items.

Step 3: Start Your Layout

What I love to do before beginning any spread is to roughly sketch in pencil rather than inking.

I’ve found that if you don’t have a clear vision of what you need to do, then it will get quite complicated and it’s really easy to make more mistakes.

ways to decorate bullet journal pages

Take your time and draw out everything and when you’re satisfied with how everything looks, you can begin the final inking process.

Basic Supplies You’ll Need

Like with every spread you need a few common supplies but you don’t need to use as many or as little. Customize your supplies according to what you’ll be needing to use.

  • Bullet journal
  • Brush pens Pencil

What Themes Can I Use In July? (Cover Design Ideas Included!)

If you’re stranded with what to include or what theme to set for the month, we’ve put together a handy guide with ideas and examples you can draw inspiration from!

You can keep your July spread theme-specific or mix up a few of them together. But let me just say that all of these themes are great ideas and you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice with these items.

1. Food-Themed

These doodles are relatively easy to draw and there are tons of ideas to try. From hotdogs, milkshakes, fruits such as watermelon and strawberries, are pretty popular when it comes to these themes for summer.

Also, when you use a watermelon theme, you’re free to do whatever you want simply because the pink and green color combination is a great way to make a spread look pretty!

Here are a few ways you can decorate a July spread with this food-related theme:

Cover Page:

For the cover of July, you can simply draw different fruits on the page or keep it one specific type of fruit as the cover.

2. Beach Themed

This theme is endless! There are so many things to do with an ocean-themed spread and soon enough you’ll be obsessed with this one and will be sad to let go of it when the seasons change.

Here you can draw seashells, dolphins, seaweed, boats, seashells, water, palm leaves, or even fun things that you normally would use when going to the beach like balls, sandcastles, buckets, beach towels and more.

My go-to beach theme for my bujo is seashells. I find that they’re easy to draw and great for filling in blank spaces. Doodling a starfish is also super fun and will make your spread look incredible.

Here are a few ocean-themed spread ideas:

3. Lemonade

Summer is all about that delicious lemonade so why not include it in your bullet journal spread for July?

If you’re not fond of drawing, this is the perfect idea for you. All you have to do is draw a cup, straw, few lemons slices and you’re just about done!

You could also leave out the cups and stick with a lemon themed spread that mainly uses light shades of green and yellow to decorate the pages.

For example, take a quick look at these gorgeous lemon inspired bujo themes (plus a full step by step tutorial video on how to create one:

4. Independence Theme

If you’re in the US, then you’d probably know how important independence day is. Here you’ll be drawing flags, banners, stars and using red, blue and white. You can also draw fireworks but my favorite spread is this one that incorporates all  of these ideas:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by claire !! (@suncerulean) on Jul 14, 2018 at 10:14am PDT

5. Ice Cream Theme

Although some ice cream doodles may be complicated to draw they can still make any spread look good!

The trick here is to keep it simple and stick with the ice cream on the stick rather than the cone ones. But there are plenty of tutorials that will show you how to draw an ice cream step by step.

If you’re a lover of art journals and spreads, then definitely opt for an ice cream spread. You’ll know what I mean when you see these ideas!

6. Tropical Theme

Okay, so if you just want a quick and easy spread that looks detailed enough, then go for a tropical theme. Here you can draw big or small leaves and you can just keep things simple by using two or three colors (yellow, green, black) for the entire layout.

Throw in a few pineapple or flamingo drawings and it will add to your tropical theme. Also, draw a few coconuts and smoothies to give you that perfect summer holiday feels.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Katelyn Satler (@katelynariana) on Jul 6, 2017 at 11:35am PDT

7. Flower Theme

In addition to a tropical theme, drawing exotic flowers or simple flowers is one of the most common themes you’ll find simply because they’re easy and it’s almost certain your bullet journal spread will turn out looking amazing.

There are plenty of flowers to choose from and most of which are less complicated to draw than most things.

Below we’ve chosen some of the best flower spreads you can take inspiration from but what I like to recommend to you is to use these flowers in addition to your other themes just for some extra effect.

A few themes that I came across drew their elements in a wreath which gave it a really cool effect and I definitely wanted to show you the ways you can do so. You don’t need to only draw flower wreaths but there are other brilliant ideas to try.

Things To Track In July

This section is completely optional but I’ve found that tracking your habits and the things you do need to do are a useful way to keep motivated and getting more things done. Sometimes we tend to use excuses to allow ourselves to not do something and before we know it, we end up slacking when it comes to important tasks.

You don’t need to track all of these items but pick a few of these and decide which ones will benefit you in the long run. Feel free to include some of your own items to track depending on your lifestyle and habits.

  • Daily Steps
  • No Spending
  • Social Media Usage
  • Phone Usage

What Other Pages Can I Include In My July Spread?

Before we head off, I just wanted to add a few things you can add in a bullet journal . I know from experience how hard it is to keep coming up with ideas before bullet journaling can even get boring. That’s why it’s a great idea to try new things so it stays fresh and exciting for a long time.

Grocery List

If you find yourself constantly forgetting to buy a certain item or maybe you want to make sure you’re planned correctly for the week, add a small grocery list in your journal.

Meal Planning

Here’s another great way to keep organized and that’s with meal planning. You’ll never have to stress about what to make for you or your family. You can easily create a meal plan for the entire month or weekly and this, in turn, will ensure you can eat healthy home-cooked meals rather than resorting to unhealthy options.

We recently spoke about how useful having a gratitude page in your journal that will uplift your spirits and remember the things that bring you joy in life. This will encourage you to be more positive and look towards the future that good things will happen.

With all the daily stresses we’re faced with it’s tough keeping track of what we need to and letting go of things that bring us down. An effective way of making sense of your thoughts and the things you need to do is by using a brain dump .

Are you specifically looking for 4th of July themed posts? Check them out here! Or looking for June cover page inspiration?

I cant believe its already part way through the year! Can I feel terrible that I haven’t achieved potentially as much as I really wanted to. URG!

These are self imposed goals though, so I really should give myself a little more slack! But the minute I relax, I still feel like i’m letting myself down. Its a terrible cycle!

I am glad that I can use my bullet journal to really help me focus on on that productivity, so that’s exactly what I will do this week, is focus on this priorities I really want to make sure I nail them in the next couple of months!

Some cool information about the Month of July

Lets just appreciate that July National Ice-cream month! What!? And national picnic month, which makes sense in a summer northern hemisphere. But here in new zealand its totally not weather for picnics more like weather for ducks!

July’s birth stone is Ruby, pretty!

Interesting fact about the name July – The month of July is named after Julius Caesar by a decision of the Roman Senate in 44BC as July was the month of his birth.

Whats cool is its the midway point of the year – Although six months have passed, July 1 is not the mid-point of the year. The exact halfway point comes at 1pm BST on July 3 in a non-leap year.

How to create a July Cover page in your bullet journal!

Firstly think about what theme you would like to add to your month, would you like to add something about July 4th and Independence Day?  Or are you after something more summery feeling or winter feeling (if you are in the southern hemisphere like me!)

The next thing you could do is plot out your theme on a blank piece of paper.  Think about what elements you would like to add to your bullet journal monthly and what you would like to add to your bullet journal weekly! So map out those weekly bullet journal layouts to find the perfect fit!

How can I add different elements to my July Bullet journal theme?

You might not want to spend the whole month celebrating independence. Thats totally OK! Why not find some ways to add simple elements to your spread like stickers, or little doodles to show that you respect and love the day but it does not have to be your resounding bujo theme.

Choosing Your Perfect Journal

Before we dive into the prompts themselves, let’s talk journals!

The perfect journal is one that you will use consistently. It could be a fancy leather-bound journal, a bullet journal, a cute planner with replaceable covers, a simple notebook, or even a digital app.

The key is to choose something that feels easy and comfortable to use.

If your journal feels overly complex or intimidating, it might stop you from maintaining your daily habits.

Here are some great options for journals:

  • PAPERAGE Lined Journal
  • BEECHMORE BOOKS Ruled Notebook With Vegan Leather Cover
  • A5 Pink Hardcover Leather Journal

If you’re not keen on traditional pen and paper, consider typing into a digital document like Microsoft Word or Google Docs, or use a journaling app on your phone for convenience.

How To Create A Daily Journal Habit

Cultivating a daily journaling habit is a journey that doesn’t come naturally to most people. However, it is an important tool for any self-care routine .

Building any new habit requires time and conscious effort. To help you on your path to journaling success, here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Start Small: Don’t feel pressured to write pages and pages of text every day. Begin with just a few sentences or bullet points about your day or your thoughts. This reduces the perceived effort and makes it easier to stick with the habit.
  • Set a Specific Time: Designate a particular time each day for journaling. Whether it’s in the morning, during lunch, or as part of your evening routine, having a set routine will help integrate journaling into your daily life.
  • Create a Comfortable Space: Find a quiet and comfortable place where you can write without distractions. Having a dedicated space for journaling can make the experience more enjoyable and focused.
  • Use Prompts: If you ever find yourself unsure of what to write about, prompts can be incredibly helpful. They provide direction and inspiration for your entries.
  • Embrace Imperfection: Remember that your journal is a private space for your thoughts and feelings. Don’t worry about grammar, spelling, or crafting a perfect narrative. The goal is to express yourself authentically.
  • Experiment with Formats: Journaling doesn’t have to be limited to traditional pen and paper. If writing by hand doesn’t resonate with you, try typing on a computer or using a journaling app. Choose the format that feels most comfortable and convenient for you.

July Doodle Challenge

Hi Natasha!! I love, love, love your journaling prompts and monthly doodle challenges! I’m just wondering where Aug-Dec journaling prompts are?? Thanks!! 🙂

Thanks, Kimberly, I’m glad you like them! 🙂 Doodle challenges are from the last year, so the entire year is already available on the site. Journaling prompts are this year’s “project” and they’re coming out on a monthly basis, but the last 30 days or so were crazy to me, so I’m a bit (cough, cough…) late. I hope I’ll manage to publish August journaling prompts over the next few days. A big apology because this month’s set of prompts was not on time, both to you and other readers, I hope there are no hard feelings… I wish you all the best and have fun journaling!

** 50 easy title ideas for your bullet journal or art journal pages. All of these trendy and simple page headings are completely beginner friendly and require no hand lettering or calligraphy skills . If you're looking for some cute ways to write titles, you're in the right place! **

Hello, gorgeous humans, I hope you're faring well today! I'm beyond excited to be sharing two of my favourite and most useful bullet journal spreads with you all: reference sheets with easy heading ideas. You may be thinking "what on earth do you mean?". Let me show you.

Make is easy to say

Make it memorable, make it you, use it early and often, 31 cute ways to write titles using pastel highlighters, 19 minimal floral title ideas using fineliners, benefits of having good bullet journal titles, how to make your bullet journal unique, my current stationery wishlist.

50 Easy & Cute Title Ideas For Your Bullet Journal

My heading reference pages are pretty much what they say on the tin: conveniently placed sheets full of easy title ideas for me to recreate. And they're such a time saver!

Anyone else struggle with the blank page of death? Once a spread is started, I'm fine. But what am I supposed to do with a blank page? It's overwhelming!

Now factor in the fact I can't hand letter to save my life and have absolutely 0 skill in calligraphy... and it becomes even trickier! So having a set place where I can find easy, cute title ideas is really handy for days the creative inspiration isn't free flowing. (Like Mondays. Or Tuesdays. Or really any day of the week that doesn't start with S.)

If you like having easy-to-reference doodle sheets, make sure you check out my 22 boxes and bubbles post too!

I'm going to be sharing a total of 50 ( 50! ) beginner friendly journal heading ideas with you lovely people today. Sheet 1 is colourful and cute. Sheet 2 is more minimal and refined. (And has loads of cute floral title ideas! Because you guys know how much your girl loves flowers.)

Ideas for Bullet Journal Titles

Ideas for Bullet Journal Titles

So, you've decided to start a bullet journal and found the ultimate list of Bullet Journal titles for inspiration. Now what?

Before we get into specifics on how to choose a title, let's discuss why it is important in the first place. If you're like me, when starting something new (especially when it feels so "official"), you want to give it a name. A title, in fact! It can be something simple like an image on Pinterest inspired you, or maybe the idea came to you at 3AM while half-asleep. You just know that whatever you're about to create needs its own identity-a specific flavor that will stand out to your future self and anyone else who happens to stumble upon it.

Making a Bullet Journal is no different. Although the original intent of the Bullet Journal was for its creator, Ryder Carroll, to keep track of his daily tasks and events, he soon found that having a title was important as well. He needed an identifier! Ryder chose the term "Bullet Journal" for several reasons, but it stuck because it can be shortened to "BuJo," which just so happens to be an acronym for "BUSY JOe." Okay... maybe not the most creative explanation ever; but making it easier to say was one of his goals.

Now you know why it's important. So, how do you choose the perfect title?

There are only two rules here:

  • Don't over think it
  • Be true to yourself. You'll never regret choosing a simple title that highlights something about your personality or interests; but you may regret a long, drawn-out title that's too difficult to remember.

Whatever you choose, make sure it feels right for you! If I had to give a bit of advice about titles though, here are some things to consider:

Use acronyms where possible. For example "Insight trackers" (IT) could turn into "inST".

Some examples here include: "Boho Berry" and "Artful Living with the Rhinestone Art Teacher" (ALRAT). The first title has a nice ring to it, while the second is just fun to say!

A title is a trademark. You want to make your Bullet Journal unique, right? Put your own spin on things!

Introduce yourself with your name in the front of your journal so that future generations will be able to identify you without having to go through old pages.

31 Cute Ways to Write Titles Using Pastel Highlighters

As I'm all about keeping it easy, all of these titles are simple to recreate and take literally no artistic ability. If you can write your name, you can use these. And no expensive tools either! All I were my trusty pastel highlighters. Honestly, I use these for literally everything and would be lost without them.

PASTEL HIGHLIGHTERS

In the past few months, I have been really getting into bullet journaling. As a result of this, my need for good titles has increased as well! In one of the Facebook groups to which I belong, there was a discussion about things not related to bullet journaling that we want our journals to show about us or what we do. I wanted to talk about what titles do for me, why I like having good ones, and how the titles are important.

Titles are so important in bullet journaling because they act as reference points for what is inside your bujo. For example, if you have an index at the beginning of your bujo with key words that are listed in alphabetical order, instead of by page number, you are able to find your way around much more easily. If your notebook is organized, then you will be able to find the journaling that you are looking for quickly and easily. Titles help with this too because they allow you to search for what is inside your bujo based on the words that are in your title.

If you have titles for each month, then it makes it easier to go back and read journal entries. For example, if I wrote something about an assignment I had due around midterms at the end of September, but I don't remember all of the details now, because it is November, having a title for each month allows me to quickly find the page where I wrote about that assignment.

When I first started going through bullet journal ideas, one of the things I noticed was lack of good titles. The ones that people would put up were often things like "October" or "back to school." These are not descriptive enough for me. They are too much like names, when I want descriptive phrases. I think this is why I started making my titles look different from the rest of the text in that they were italicized, bolded and underlined. Basically, anything that makes them pop out more than the rest of the writing on a page to me helps with giving them meaning and purpose in a bujo.

There are many of us who have heard about the alluring world of bullet journals. The art of taking an empty journal and transforming it into your own personalized system is rather addicting, isn't it? Once you get in the groove of things, you may find that you like this new system so much that you want to share it with the world.

How To Make Your Bullet Journal Unique

The problem is, once you start telling everyone about it, they want to create their own system in THEIR journal. It would be nice if that was allowed but unless you purchase each of them a separate journal, chances are that's not going to happen. So what do you do then?

This is when you have to become a 'Bullet Journal Groupie'.

Yes, being a groupie has a negative connotation in society today but a Bullet Journal Groupie is a person who loves the concept of bullet journaling so much that they share it with everyone. They encourage their friends and family to give it a try and then share their experiences with the group. It's a win-win situation for all involved because now you have several people using this system and discussing it together.

Prepare Your Bullet Journal for July

As we enter the month of July, it’s time to start setting up our bullet journals to make the most out of this sunny season.

Here are a few ways to set up your bullet journal for July:

Add A Beautiful Cover Page

A bullet journal with some illustration of birds on the cover

When it comes to bullet journaling, starting off with a bang is key!

That’s why I always make sure to create a fun and inviting cover page to kick off each month.

It’s the perfect way to set the mood and get me excited for all the possibilities ahead.

For July, why not add some summertime vibes to your cover page? ( Who doesn’t love summer?)

Think bright and bold colors, beachy waves, and refreshing treats like ice cream and popsicles.

You can even add some colorful quotes pages or phrases to keep you motivated throughout the month.

One of my personal favorites is “Life is short, but summer is shorter!” (Oh, What an inspiring quote)

It’s a reminder to make the most out of this season and enjoy every moment of it.

So go ahead and get creative with your cover page, the possibilities are endless!

Plan with A Monthly Spread

cute ways to write july

Alright, time to dive into the nitty-gritty of bullet journaling, the monthly spread!

This is where we get down to business and start planning out our month like a boss.

When it comes to setting up your monthly spread for July, the sky’s the limit.

You can opt for a classic calendar layout or get a little more creative with separate sections on your bullet journal for work , personal life, and wellness goals.

Maybe you want to track your daily habits or set some exciting new targets for the month – this is the perfect place to do it.

One idea that I love is creating a “Summer Bucket List” section, where you can jot down all the fun activities you want to do before the season ends.

From hiking to trying a new restaurant, this section will keep you inspired and motivated to make the most of your summer.

Remember, your bullet journal is a reflection of you and your unique personality, so don’t be afraid to get creative and make it your own.

Whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist, there’s no right or wrong way to set up your monthly spread – as long as it works for you!

Start Up a Weekly Page

days of the week on a bullet journal

When setting up your weekly page for July, consider incorporating the theme of summer into your layouts.

For example, you could create a beach-themed spread with palm tree doodles and waves or a picnic-themed spread with images of sandwiches and lemonade.

To keep yourself motivated and accountable throughout the month, consider adding a section for reflections or gratitude.

You can use this page idea in your bullet journal to write down daily reflections or things you’re grateful for, such as spending time with loved ones or enjoying a beautiful sunset.

Remember, the key to a successful bullet journal setup is to make it your own and have fun with it!

Experiment with different layouts, themes, and designs to find what works best for you.

In the next section, we will talk about some great bullet journal page ideas for you.

Beach front on a sunset

If you’re anything like me, you’re already dreaming of sun, sand, and waves.

(I guess we all are)

So why not take those dreams and turn them into a reality by writing a plan in your bullet journal about your ideal beach vacation this July?

Believe me, there’s no better way to beat the heat and have some fun in the sun.

To make your planning process a breeze, create a spread in your bullet journal dedicated to organizing your trip.

Here are some tips that you can try:

  • Travel arrangements : Whether you’re flying, driving, or taking a train, keep track of all your travel details in one place. Include things like flight numbers, hotel reservations, and rental car information.
  • Packing lists : Don’t forget a thing! Make a list of all the essentials you’ll need for your beach adventure, from sunscreen to flip-flops.
  • Activities : What’s a beach vacation without some fun activities? Write down all the things you want to do while you’re there, like surfing, kayaking, or simply lounging on the sand.

And of course, don’t forget to add some personality to your spread. Maybe draw a picture of a beach umbrella or a little crab, or write a silly joke about sunscreen.

What goes first in a bullet journal?

The first thing that goes in a bullet journal is the index or table of contents.

This is where you can keep track of the different sections and pages of your journal.

The index is usually located at the beginning of the journal and is typically divided into different categories such as daily logs, monthly logs, collections, and notes.

What is the best age to start a bullet journal?

There is no specific age to start a bullet journal. Anyone who wants to keep track of their tasks, goals, and ideas can benefit from using a bullet journal.

Whether you are a student, a professional, or a retiree, bullet journaling can help you stay organized and focused.

It’s never too early or too late to start a bullet journal, as long as you have the willingness to create and maintain one.

What should I write in my first bullet journal?

The content of your first bullet journal depends on your personal preferences and needs. You can start by creating a future log, which is an overview of your upcoming months.

This can help you plan ahead and see what events or tasks you have in the future. You can also create a monthly log, where you can write down your monthly goals and tasks.

How do I organize my bullet journal?

There are different ways to organize your bullet journal, and the best way is to find a method that works for you.

One common method is to use symbols or bullets to categorize your tasks and events. For example, you can use a dot for tasks, a dash for events, and a circle for notes.

You can also use different colors to differentiate between different categories.

How do you write the date in a bullet journal?

The date in a bullet journal can be written in different formats, depending on your preference.

One common format is to write the month and day in a numerical format, such as “04/07” for April 7th.

Another format is to write the day and month in words, such as “7th April”. You can also include the year if you want to, but it’s not necessary for daily entries.
