How to Post Your Restaurant’s Menu Online

With so much competition, you need your restaurant to stand out in as many ways as possible. In today’s digital world, that means having an online presence, even if it’s just your food menu. When someone is deciding where to eat, they usually pull out their phones and do a quick Internet search to see what’s in the area, and what those restaurants serve. Having your menu available to these searchers means drawing in more customers. Here’s how you can post your restaurant’s menu online:
Create a Website
First of all, if you don’t already have a website for your restaurant, you need to create one as soon as possible so that anyone who searches for you or searches for places to eat in your area finds you. It doesn’t have to be too fancy — even a single page will do — as long as you have an online presence. Just make sure your site is mobile-friendly so that anyone who accesses it via their phone or tablet doesn’t have to wait for it to load, or it doesn’t look distorted when they view it.
Add a User-Friendly Menu to Your Website
No matter what else you post on your website, after your contact information, you need to add a menu that’s also user-friendly. That means you don’t want to upload a PDF file — the menu should be listed directly on the page. It also means adding enticing photos, descriptive language and any kind of background on your ingredients or cooking styles, such as whether you use locally sourced produce or your chef studied French cooking in Paris. Use a readable font, add prices and use a simple, easy-to-read design. Again, make sure it’s mobile-friendly.
Create Social Media Accounts
If your restaurant doesn’t have a presence on social media accounts, like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, it’s time to get started. They’re free to sign up for, and not only do they provide you with an additional place to post your website and menu, they allow you to interact with customers, listen to opinions and concerns and post daily specials and other upcoming events. Facebook even allows restaurants to post their menus directly on their page.
Upload Your Menu to Third-Party Sites
Another side effect of living in such a digital world is that there are dozens of places beyond your own website and social media accounts where you can post your menu, and you should take advantage of as many of them as you can to gain exposure. You have food delivery services, like GrubHub and Ubereats, as well as business review sites, like Yelp and OpenTable. Allmenus is a directory just for posting restaurant menus.
Create a Google Presence
Google also offers tools that can help you post your menu online and keep it front and center when people search for food in your area. The Google My Business tool not only allows you to link your menu to your listing, but you can also add contact info, wait time information and other important details, like your hours and customer reviews.
Take Advantage of Menu Creation Tools
If you aren’t sure how to make a menu for your website, there are numerous tools out there that not only help you create an attractive menu, but they’ll distribute them to various online sources for you. For example, at SinglePlatform you can upload your menu, edit and add designs to it, and part of the website’s services include distributing your finalized menu to sites like UrbanSpoon and YellowPages. Locu and MenuPages are some other great options.
Stay Active and Updated
Finally, a word on what to do once your menu is online: Keep it updated. If you offer weekly specials, switch to seasonal dishes or if you change your prices, make sure every menu you post online reflects the new information. An outdated menu is a turnoff to customers and can leave them frustrated and uninterested in doing business with you again.

Review A: ‘The tastiest Italian food in London?’
I took my Italian friend here for his birthday and he absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was really relaxing and the waiters were friendly and extremely helpful. All the food was really fresh and the portions were generous. The tiramisu that we had for our dessert was absolutely delicious. Paolo says it’s the best he’s ever had – apart from his mum’s, of course! Although our meal was rather expensive, we didn’t mind paying a bit more than usual because the food was so good. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to eat lovely food in a relaxing atmosphere. EMMA T
Review B: ‘Not the most relaxing evening …’
A colleague at work recommended this place but we thought it was rather disappointing. First of all, the atmosphere wasn’t very relaxing. It was a bit noisy, perhaps because it was a Friday night and the restaurant was rather busy. Also, the music was too loud so it was hard to talk. Secondly, although the waiters were very friendly, there weren’t enough of them when we were there and so the service was slow. Unfortunately, when our food eventually arrived it wasn’t very good. Our steaks were a bit overcooked and the salad wasn’t very fresh. Finally, the portions weren’t very big and we thought the meal was rather overpriced. All in all, I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend it. Suggested answer
Last Saturday I took my girlfriend to Chez Pierre for her birthday. It’s a new French restaurant in the city centre. The atmosphere was really relaxing and although there was classical and French music it wasn’t very loud so it was easy to talk. The waiters were extremely friendly and the service was good. Our fish was absolutely delicious and the salad was very fresh and tasty. For dessert I had a lovely apple tart with cream and Anna had ice cream. All the portions were extremely generous and although the meal was rather expensive I would definitely recommend going there for a special occasion.
A friend of mine recommended the Villa Borghese restaurant to us. It’s an Italian restaurant just by the beach and they serve mostly Italian food such as pizzas and pasta. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The restaurant was extremely noisy because there were lots of young children and loud pop music so it was rather difficult to talk. Because of this, the atmosphere wasn’t very relaxing. We went on a Friday evening and the restaurant was completely full but there weren’t enough waiters. The service was awful – we were there for nearly an hour before anyone took our order. We ordered pasta but it was rather overcooked and the sauce wasn’t very tasty. Our meal was fairly cheap but the food wasn’t very good so I definitely wouldn’t go there again.

Students Write Restaurant Reviews!
- August 30, 2013
Sharing is caring!

This week, one of our writing classes at EC San Francisco English school wrote reviews on restaurants they have been to in the San Francisco Bay Area. Take a look at their reviews!
Review of Mama’s – by Eugene:

2 weeks ago, I went to a Thai & Singapore restaurant in Westfield 4th floor. Actually we hesitated to enter the restaurant because we didn’t know that the Thai & Singapore food is either good or bad.
After, we decided to enter. The restaurant atmosphere was really elegant and beautiful. And then we sat down the chair and saw the menu. But we didn’t know which food was delicious. So we called to the waiter and the waiter recommended to us some food.
We decided to order green curry and beef. After we got the food, we ate that. The beef taste was awesome!!!! And the green curry taste was not bad. We finished all those dishes deliciously and we were very satisfied with our choice. Also, the waiter was really kindly and always smiling.
Although there food were very expensive, but we want to go there again!

The Ripe Smells Catch your Mind – by Moon
Coffee is my best beverage. I can’t live without coffee.
When I came here SF. My roommate introduced a cafe where taste is great. She told me she is addicted to that coffee. Also, she couldn’t go to the other café since she tasted that coffee. So I was very excited to go there named ‘BLUE BOTTLE’. There was any sign, just the blue color of battle. That was very impressed for me. It was impossible to get a coffee right away. So I had to wait for a cup of coffee. While I was waiting on a line, my expectation was bigger and bigger.
At last, I could take a cup of coffee. Umm~ that was the fantastic flavor. Not only flavor but also smells were great! @0@ Finally, I addicted to that coffee too. I love the blue bottle.

Student's Answer:
“Amour: the spirit of Paris- a review
Set right in the heart of Paris, famous Amour restaurant is usually called a \”French spirit\” by local people. Although it doesn’t look like elegant French locations usually suggested by the tour guides , you will undoubtedly fall in love with it at the first sight.
Having been here for the first time, it is the place that I was astonished by. Restaurant is hidden in depth of the streets, the building is old and rather cosy, than fancy; the territory is, without exaggeration, tiny: few tables inside and several of them in the garden, full of wild roses. Both breath-taking aroma of the flowers and calming atmosphere of the city make customers feel like they are in a French romantic movie!
Unfortunately, Amour does not offer a wide range of meals, however, everything we ordered was completely delicious: marvellous desserts, coffee and, of course, traditional croissants. Besides, we were told in secret, that the latter is considered nearly the best in whole Paris!
The only detail I was quite taken aback with, is the uncleanness of the dishes: I wish I was wrong, but it seems to me that tableware is hardly ever washed here, as not only the forks, spoons and plates were dirty, but I also could unmistakably see someone’s lipstick on my cup.
Al in all, I’d rate Amour 4 out of 5; after all, hygiene conditions absolutely didn’t meet my expectations. Yet, if you are looking for a spot to dive into authentic vibe of France, this restaurant is lucky find for you. “
